Light-Seeking Fish…

…or so it seems. Actually they were swimming under a small bridge on which I was standing. The fish seemed to follow random paths. In this case they happened to be swimming in the rough direction of what I saw as a sun reflection on the water, but which of course they could not have seen.

(I first posted this image many years ago on my original photoblog.)

Old City Rooftops

Towards the end of Habad Street in the Jewish Quarter of Jerusalem’s Old City there is a stairway that provides public access to adjacent rooftops. When you get up there you find what is effectively a pedestrian street providing access between various Jewish Quarter buildings on the margin of the Christian Quarter. There are air vents through which you can look down on the David Street bazaar. The rooftop walkway borders the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer. And if you look towards the East you get this interesting view of the golden Dome of the Rock, which appears behind someone’s shed, and of Augusta Victoria in the far background.

Fiery Furnace

A famous rock formation in Arches National Park near Moab, Utah. Late in the day, in late July, it looked and felt fiery.
