Haifa Carmel Panorama
This is the Ahuza neighborhood at dawn with the Mediterranean coast in the background.
Trivia: One of Saddam Hussein’s SCUD missiles landed in the ravine in the foreground during the first Gulf War in 1991. Close call.

Moonrise at Shark Valley, Florida Everglades
This image is from the observation tower at Shark Valley in Everglades National Park, and was made with the Canon 70-200mm f/4 that has quickly become my favorite lens for nature and landscapes. The sun was setting behind us and the moon had risen ten or fifteen minutes earlier. It was a beautiful evening.
(The Photographer’s Ephemeris looks like a useful tool for planning shots of this type.)

Miami — Motel 77, Calle Ocho
This is Southwest 8th Street at around 5:00 AM, taken from the sidewalk in front of the old Home Depot. Not the most elegant place to hang out, but there’s worse.
